Skin needling, also known as micro needling, and collagen induction therapy, is a procedure that uses tiny fine needles to puncture the skin. During this process the skin responds to the controlled wound by stimulating more collagens and elastins, resultingĀ in smoother, more rejuvenated and hydrated skin, whilst improving the appearance of pores, pigmentation and acne scarring.
Skin needling is an excellent treatment for anyone 16 years and older, who want to improve skin tone, texture and hydration. Skin needling can treat a range of skin concerns, including acne scarring, sun damage, and skin laxity. People who should avoid skin needling include thise with an active infection, eczema, active sunburn, pregnancy and anyone currently taking VitA or Roaccutane.
A treatment takes approximately 40 minutes to perform. Treatment includes a through double cleanse of the skin, skin needling of the face, followed by add-on serums such as NCTF Boost, a hyaluronic mask and moisturizer.
Stop using active products at home, such as VitA, VitC, glycolics and aha 1 week prior, and for 1 week after sessions. A numbing cream can applied 20-30 minutes before arriving for treatment ( based on clients comfort needs).
For best results skin needling should be done with 3-4 treatments, every 4-6 weeks apart. After that maintenance treatments can be performed as desired.
Straight after a skin needling treatment the skin may feel hot and tight for upto 12 hours. Hydrating serums, masks and moisturisers may applied as you feel necessary. Generally redness will be subsided by 24 hours and make up applied if desired.
